Got the project bike partially stripped down and carried out a closer inspection.
The front fork fixed tubes (is this what people call the stanchion) is obviously bent and headed for the scrap pile.
The lower part of the forks (Slider) look OK. Are they easy to strip down and how would one check the lower leg are straight and true.
I have the BMW workshop manual but it's aimed at BMW trained techies.
Any hints and tips gratefully received as ever
