I know this is more of a US question but this is the internet isn't it! ;)

Has anyone installed a front light modulator on their 1200GS? I had one on my 1100R but I don't know what to make out of the can bus as far as a light modulator is concerned!

What's a light modulator?
It sounds like the device that would flash your headlights so people think you are a rozza. Not quite sure why you'd want one???

What's the purpose of fitting one?

It makes you very visible in traffic by flashing your lights during daytime. It's legal in California (don't know about the other states) and very efficient when filtering traffic.

RE: http://www.kisantech.com

pathBlazer Head light modulator P115W-A6 seems to be the recommended model but doesn't seem to be on their catalog, I've emailed them to find out.

BigDom on Advrider had one on his F650, not sure if he fitted one to his 1150, however, it was very visible, even in the African sun.

IMHO a worthy addition to a bike, also aids visibility when filtering.

...and the jury is in, that part doesn't ship until the end of the month :clock

Hi Grizz- BiGDoM is here too! Yes I swopped it over to the GS no problem, Kisantech helped with the rewiring. Excellent product(s) and service.
Certainly the Pathblaizer I think they call it works amazingly ... I have cars pulling over to let me by... :D . Is legal in all USA states ... not really sure here in 3rd World 'New SA' but never had a problem...yet

It's a shame that they are not legal here in the UK. I have driven unmarked Job cars with them and have made better progress than when I used to be in a fully marked vehicle with blue strobes on top !
Don't really understand why but it does seem that the average car driver notices the alternate flashing of a main beam.
I am sure if they were used on bikes they would reduce accidents to some small extent.

Their model P115W-H3 works fine on the 12GS too if you don't want to wait.

P115W-A3-DHL

So it looks like I didn't get the right information and Kisantech does recomend the A3, not the A6 for the 1200GS. The exact model is P115W-A3-DHL. I got one yesterday and installed it in a few minutes, it's really easy, plug'n'play.

I tried out the theory of flashing the main beam (rather than constant main beam) when doing some filtering on the M25 last week. It was a marked improvement on a constant main beam, but my thumb did get tired after a few minutes:) Maybe a good technique to use when you think there is a high risk of people switching lanes i.e. near a junction on the motorway.
