Well I should have listened to those wiser than me. I ran the Y piece for a while as I cleaned up the BMW box, as it’s an easy swap so I put it back on to see if I was looking at it through rose tinted glasses. Guess what the bike runs so much better with the stock muffler box, and honestly I think I prefer the sound as well. Keihan have been very understanding and happy to take the pipe back for a refund.
So as they say you live and learn. On a positive note it gave me time to clean up the stock one.

Here’s a vote for the standard set up. When I bought my 100 pd it had a Y piece fitted, I do go on green lanes and chaulk roads around home/ North Yorkshire and it was very offensive. Barry Robson at York got me one of the last, new collector boxes from bmw. ££££ but worth it, the only slight difficulty I had was getting the keihan headers to fit, but did it and the bike is transformed, starts better, idles better, runs at low speed down to tick over, clutch out feet up at walking pace. Great stuff. There is one on eBay at the moment with headers, but the guy is asking over ££300!!!

I agree with that Johnny, but also they are restricted by the emissions and noise police. I have full akro on my LC and with a remap the difference over stock considerable. But on the PD stock seems best.
