Just double checking.............can I just slide the pads out without removing the brake caliper ..............and then slide new one in !
Thanks

The caliper pistons would have to be pushed back in to allow you to slide the new pads in, which is done more easily with the calipers off. It will also give you a chance to clean any crud off the pistons before pushing them back in and fitting the new pads.

Yes and no :) To get to the pads you will need to remove the wheel which means removing the caliper, well loosening it at least.

All in all an easy job to do - only difficult part I found was handing over £97 to the nice BMW man for a pair of replacement pads

Pads slide out without removing wheel or calliper, remove pin, unscrew slide pin, remove spring plate, push pads back gently, remove from the top and replace, easy :D I do it once a month in winter to shift all the crap, same with the back pads but they drop out of the bottom of the calliper.

Can be done, but I prefer to remove the caliper so you can give it a good clean.
