I need to replace my brake discs ( all circa 0.5 mm below BMW recommended min) on a 2014 R1200GS, any guidance on where to buy them and is it an easy replacement procedure for a home DIY'er?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty simple job....make sure you've got a good quality torx bit to get the brake disc bolts out :thumby:

Use gentle heat on the disc bolts because they’re loctited in and on a bike of that age they’ve been in place a long time and want to stay there. The manual says to replace the bolts with new. Also, the rear disc carrier may well be made of alloy rather than steel as used on later bikes. Check the bolt holes for cracks. If the carrier is alloy and sound, be careful not to over tighten the bolts when you mount the disc as the reason BMW replaced alloy carriers with steel was because of cracking.
