I’ve seen images of the washer both ways. The one in the photo above has a ‘crown’ the washer on mine is flat, with a recess on one side. I refitted it recess side up but would appreciate confirmation this is correct.

Everything is back together but the petrol tank is still empty so simple enough to strip it down again.

if you can give me a few days I'll let you know. In the process myself. I might even get round to it tomorrow but I did 11 hours on the bike today and I'm not sure my back will let me do anything rough tomorrow. here is mine now...View attachment 530034
It would be appreciated if you can let me know. Cheers.

I have never removed one to know the answer your after, best speaking to someone like Steptoe who must have changed many in his days... a good source of info for sure.

Lets be honest unless your a Starbucks showroom rider, most don't check there bikes milimrtrically before each ride, so chances are things like this only get spotted during an annual wash or pre mot check

As did mine

It was changed at the earliest opportunity

The more I think about it I think it’s flat side up as I remember wiping grease out of the recess in the washer and the only place the grease could have come from was inside the boot.

Looks like I’ll be stripping it down again tomorrow and refitting the washer the ‘correct’ way up. Probably only a 30 minute job so not a big issue.

mine is in such bad condition. I’ll take a scalpel to it first thing in the morning and send you photos of how the clips fall!

I could it now but I’ve two kittens on my lap and I’m rather comfy.

All done, having looked again it’s obvious the indent is on the inside (bottom). Also did a bit of cable wrapping while the tank was off.

Sorry I got distracted and totally forgot about you, guess you hit it sorted
