Does anyone on here have any experience of Front tyre wear on non GS BMW bikes?
On my GS there is usually some life left in the Front Tyre when the rear is finished.
However on my wife’s R1100R the Front is wearing out at least twice as fast as the rear. That is 2+ Front tyres to 1 rear.
The rear is a Battlax B57 and has seen a B57 Frt. and now a 020 wear out and has still got plenty of miles left. The 020 has lasted less that 4000 miles I think the B57 did far less than this. The wear is even across the width of the tyre.
I must admit that I am not anal about checking tyre pressures but the front still had 32 PSI after a winters riding so it has not been ridden flat. The bike is used mainly to commute along country lanes and through town.
The question is this wear rate usual?

Mate rides a r1100s wears fronts and backs out at about the same rate. 4000mls for pirelli diablos. :)

Yes, wearing out at the same rate I can accept but it is the first bike that I have known to wear out the front tyre twice as fast as the rear.

A mate of mine in the highlands of Scotland virtually destroyed a front tyre last year. Must be those abrasive roads.

The edges looked like some one had attacked them with a cheese grater.

Tourances were unmarked on the GS?

a mate of mine cut his up with an angle grinder after 10 mins

but thats not relevant either.......
