i´m in a bit of a fix.....

at the moment i am in Panama city and my front TKC80 is badly worn...and it´s pissing rain here every day...anyway the only tyre i can get is ´made in taiwan´by DURO, the size is 100/90-19'', it is for tubeless and looks half decent, cost about 60$ US

what are your opinions on fitting it ?, i can probably get to guatemala (2000km) on the TKC where i maybe able to source a better tyre, but if the DURO is ok i will change here.

bike is an 1150gs.

Hi Goggs,

Glad to see you got your final drive sorted, you must be flying, Panama city already!!

Hope you are enjoying it all as much as we did, although we were going the other way. We didn't have any luck getting any tyres at all in Panama. There is a BMW dealer there but he had a 2 week wait for them when we were there. Still worth checking out. Head Mechanic there is a top bloke.

It will get easier from here though , I think next major BMW is Guatemala and then Mexico should be a lot easier, so maybe just have to put up with the Duro till then.

Good Luck

PS Did you hook up with Dan in BA............?

no luck at BMW, as you say 2 week wait.

had a few jars with dan in santiago de chile and BA...he´s still there.......he can´t remember which underground carpark he left his bike in !!!

hi Dan if you are listening.

That sounds like the Dan we know and love!! Maybe he will still be there when we make it back out with a 4wd and a kid in tow.......BA is a pretty cool place to hang out though...

Thought that might be the case at BMW. It does make me laugh....

The dealer support really is poor for a bike that BMW make a point of marketing as an RTW tool!

I think I have a contact at BMW Guatemala city if you want to try and arrange ahead. ( Met the husband of a woman who works there, said to get in touch if we ever needed anything) Let me know and I will dig it out.

Are you heading all the way North? How long are you planning on taking?

Best of luck, wish we were still out there!

hi richard,

i´m sure Danwill still be there when your kid takes a 4x4 there !!

i may have sourced some ´anakees´ in costa rica, waiting for email reply.

we are heading for Alaska, have to be there at the end of july, due to the weather window, which means there´s a lot of distance to cover. then an easy 7000KM across the plains of Canada to finish our RTW in Montreal.

then it´ll be back to work.....sheet !!

catch you later mate, cheers bob
