.......................finally made up her mind after major new bike decision trauma

All week Wully's been nippin mah heid - wotcha gonnie get, wotcha gonnie get - here I've priced this one for you and here's a link for bling and heres..........blah blah blah.

After getting my leg over as much as possible last weekend it came down to a toss up between the Transalp and the 650GS.

I can reach the ground on both..
One costs more but the other holds its value better
one comes with hand guards and ABS as standard but the other does have more overall bling potential
Both look good in red :handbag

And the folks at work didn't help much either...

"oh the GS :D" was the answer closely follwed by, "oh but you won't go wrong with the Transalp - poss better touring bike, more protection in bad weather"...

and so it's been all week :nenau:nenau

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHh

Choices , choices...........

anyway yesterday - after getting to Glasgow for an afternoon meeting early enough to go to Victor Devines for another seat on the Transalp (cos it was on a stand at the show so coul't really get a proper feel for it) I've made up my mind :augie:augie:augie

Phoned Wully (so's he could stop nippin mah heid aboot it) and now mah trusty new steed is ordered

so you went for the GS then :mmmm

well you would wouldn't you.. took my honda to devines for a service.. they made it feel like they were doing me a favour looking at it, and when it had a problem and it wasn't sold by them.... :spitfire they were a disgrace to honda dealers imho.

Then when I went to change the bike.. Salesman...discount was that sir, good trade in price sir :nenau Ha.. not in the least interested...
So I bought a Hyabusa and a GS.. never looked back...

Whatever you've chosen, I'm sure you'll enjoy it :thumb post a pic when you get it :)

You're keeping us in suspenders young lady.

Watchagot . . Watchagot . . :nenau

Could it be . . . .

The perfect bike, leading the pack (with Tash), getting adoration from all us 1150 / 1200 riders :bow :bow :bow :bow

Or . . .

Handing in your UKGSer membership and skulking off into bland Honda obscurity :blast

:D :D :D :D :D

(Whatever it is I'm sure you'll enjoy it).

I'll look forward to seeing it on a GS run :thumb

Bob.

aye they weren't the most enthusiastic of dealers. Felt a bit like i was having my life energy sucked out of me...

conversation went along the lines of..

can i help - yes, i'm interested in a transalp, blah blah blah
we've got a demo but you cant have a go, have a seat on this one crammed in the window that i cant be @r$ed to pull out

as i was getting a quote...
oh i dont know if honda do a restrictor kit

lost the will to live and left

FWIW I think you did the right thing avoiding Devines. My last bike was a VFR VTEC which I was considering buying from them. Discount for cash with no trade in? Oh no sir, these bikes sell themselves, we don't need to discount them. So I got it from Wigan Honda and saved £800. Then there was the time I tried to get them to carry out a warranty recall on a previous Honda I owned which they wanted to charge me for:blast. I had all my VFR servicing done at North Harbour MCs in Ayr (who were fine). I wouldn't go near Devines again they're typical old school ignorant bike dealers imho. Having said that the old guy in parts was helpful. I do like the new Transalp but that GS looks good:beerjug: bet you can't wait for the 26th:thumb2.

Many years ago I bought a Honda 250 from Devines and they also tried to charge me when the cam chain tensioner broke (turned out a common fault at the time) and caused a bit of engine damage

Last year I called in to check out their clothing range and parked my GS infront of the shop and was asked to move it as it was a Honda open day. Had he said please then I would have :thumb

Fruitcake - Looking forward to seeing your new bike in the near future - My first bike was a Yamaha DT125 which I believe is still going strong 35 years later

Sounds like a very tricky decision you've had to make Di!! Just goes to show customer service goes a long way, the Honda dealership sounded terrible.
You'll be delighted with the GS, only a month to go!:clap Looking forward to getting out on a run with you.
Tashxx

Congrats on the bike purchase. It looks good.

As an aside, why do BMW insist on showing some of the new bikes at the show in those stupid circular stands, preventing anybody from getting the chance to sit on them !!!

I really wanted to sit on the Megamoto at the NEC in 2006 and couldn't and likewise on the 650 X Challenge in 2007 and couldn't.

Bloody annoying and they seem to do it more than other manufacturers.

yep, that and the pic i had on my phone all week of me smiling on the GS - it feels better than the Transalp although I'm sure either would have been a good progression bikie. As Wully put it one night - my heart tells me one bike, my head the other - i went with my heart!!!!:rose:kissy2 Am really excited.

So fruitcake when do you get the new toy :oonyack
26th April (and counting down the days already:clap:clap:clap:clap

Nobody warned me it would become this obsessive when encouraging me to do my CBT before all the new test changes :mmmm:rolleyes:
