I have seen a number of bikes with holders for their stove fuel bottles and even 2 litre oil bottles on the back of their panniers. I have spoken to Touratech and theres dont fit a BMW pannier only their own. Can anyone tell me where I can get them to fit my panniers ready for my South America trip?
Cheers,

Andy

I have just changed bikes from a GS with Touratech Zega panniers with bottle and fuel holders to a GSA with GSA panniers.

I have tried to take one of the holders from the old panniers and fit on the new ones and there is a small problem but it does not seem to be impossible.

The problem is the very large bevel on all corners of the GSA panniers. Logically the bottle holders should be fitted with the bottom edge aligned with the start of the bevel. This results in the top of the holder interfering with the pannier lock. If the holders are fitted, as with the Zegas, with the bottom edge aligned with the bottom of the pannier they clear the locks OK but will look a little odd.

The solution I intend to try is to buy the quick release holders Touratech have for their new super-duper panniers. These allow the holders to be removed when not needed so although they will still have to be fitted with the bottom of the bracket aligned with the bottom of the pannier I can easily remove the holder when not needed, just leaving the little quick release brackets on the pannier.

The ones you were looking at on mine are completely standard from TT.

They don't know their product.

They take a bit of fiddling with, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Or bring them up to mine and I'll fit them for you:thumb2

Thanks Dan,
I think I will have another go with a bit of chopping around it should fit I'm sure. I will put the 2 litre bottle on side ways like yours and see what I can do with the twin bottle holder
Cheers,

Hi,
can i ask how you got on with fitting the 2 bottle holder 01-070-0525-0 to your pannier
after, i have just bought the bottle holder today have standard 1200gsa panniers and now come across same problem.

i even thought of fitting it to the side of the top box it will fit there no issues other than its on the side not back off

I think it's do-able, but the space limitations mean that you can struggle to get to the lock for the pannier with the key (because it is approached from below).

If you don't mind spacing them out a bit, and living with them looking slightly unbalanced it can be done :thumb2

Just read andycliff's reply, and he has already mentioned the problem :blast...a good idea about the quick release option from Touratech, but I'm sure there's a high premium on those models?

Just fitted these bottles to my GSA panniers using TOURATECH
Removable bottle holders.

They fitted no problem. The bottles are from GoOutdoors

You need to have the mount down low enough to get the key in, but this is the Tourtech dual bottle mount with MSR 800ml bottles.

These are the removable bottle holders obviously. I have these setup for right or left with the bottle level on the panner when it sits on the ground.
