Fuel consumption running 12gs in

Sounds about right, I got 14.5 km / litre this weekend on a 1200 GSA with 800 miles on it. The consumption does go down quite a bit if you're motoring along a motorway.

my adv 12 does

40/45mpg at 80mph. I do a run of 50 miles down twisty lanes on and off the gas alot and she's doing that mileage. My old ZX12 would only do 32mpg so don't thing its to bad. between 330 and 360 to a tank of 32 ltrs.:thumb

Seem to be getting a fairly consitent 10 miles per litre - ie 45 mpg.

During its early life last year I was getting better fuel consumption but the last time it was in the dealers they updated the software map. This smoothed things out quite a bit, but seems to have afftected the consumption a tad.

So far I'm getting 51mpg on my GSA. It's done 450 miles since new. mainly on minor roads around the New Forest, but with a couple of 50 mile motorway trips. Early days yet of course, but I'm well pleased - particularly bearing in mind that my old KTM990 only returned about 38mpg....the reserve light usually came on at only about 140 miles.

Same as here:thumb

Although, once, i did get 58mpg over a tankfull, by shortshifting, not using the brakes and drifting down hills etc all on A & B roads, although if you get on a motorway and cruise at 80+mph (ish) it drinks like a "whatton":D

Fuel

About 32 mpg @ 100 mph after 3000 miles

About 40 mpg @ 100 mph after 8000 miles

Ok, so I have just clocked up my first thousand miles on the GSA.

Ave fuel consumption seems to be around 54MPG according to the OBC - with 325 miles racked up and in goes 27 litres - so 5/6 litres to spare around another 60 miles left so that ties in with the OBC left to empty!

However, the fuel guage is pants; sat on last two blocks for the last 150 miles!!!

And the OBC has been estimating 120 range for the last 100 or so - and still shows 60 before I filled it up!!

The German engineering of the bike overall I am happy with - shame the damn electronics for fuel are rubbish - I have to guess how far I can go dependent on what I am doing and how I am riding.

Oh and yep - Motorway yesterday sitting at 4000 revs - fine 'ish but 4500-5000 revs...drinks like a fish!!

How on earth can they justify 450 mile range on these things:confused: ?????

The range to go does vary a lot with the current consumption rate (ie how much above 4500 rpm you are).

Got 33.73 litres in at the weekend without removing the rubber inner / drilling the filler neck  still had 9 miles to go on the range :)

The middle blocks of the fuel gauge do seem to change in a non-linear manner, but who rally cares when the miles to go seems to be fairly accurate and there's probably 300 miles plus in the tank, as long as you're not blasting down the autobahn at 90 odd mph.

I've just filled up after having completed my "running in" period at 1000km and have averaged 4.8 ltrs/100km or 59mpg.
Hopefully it shouldn't be much different from now on, as apart from the occasional initial hard acceleration, I tend to short shift and ride off of the torque. It does seem to be a little more difficult to ride this way than my old 1150GS Adv., though I suppose that's down to the lighter flywheel, as I've also noticed that the 1200GS has a lot less engine braking!

 How can you lot running fat old 1200 Adventures get 50+MPG? I am always pleased to get 37.5 from mine and the engine is not so different.

Just came back from the Sachsenring doing nearly a ton all the way, 20litres did 345kilometres 17.25ks/litre, thats taking into account the fuel guage, probably a few more Kms left in the tank but didn't want to miss the garage (can only fill up at Aral/Esso/Shell as a squaddie) or 49.71mpg :thumb
