Could just be the thread gone. Use a pair of molegrips or similar and pull whilst turning.

If the stud is turning, go to the pub :thumb

Thanks Timolga i'll try that, the stud is not turning but none of the nuts will come of if it was one i could understand but all eight of them puzzles me.

Sounds like your lucky it's not leaking fuel
Best check the threads on the studs and if they're ok fit new nuts.

Oh and it's easiest if you fit a new 'O' ring as well

I would tell you the answer but unfortunately it is too late to start turning the nuts the other way...

the exposed threads of the studs sometimes corrode & the nuts won't come off. you need to clean the threads before attempting to take the nuts off.

usually if you just keep turning, the studs snap. DAMHIK

the bad news: if they keep turning & don't come off then the threads are fecked or the studs are loose in the flange. what else could it be? thread gone in nuts- sod's law says it's the studs.

the good news: s/h GS tanks are cheap :P

fuel filter

Funnily enough I have just done mine for the first time an hour ago.
What a crap job !
I thought the K's were awkward.
I suppose that if the nuts wont come undone you could try hacksawing a cross head in them to hold with a screwdriver or carefully cut down the side of the nut.
Or heat the nuts with an oxy-acetelene torch (he he he he he he - and get yourself an instant adventure tank)
I think I would probably leave the filter if your bike is running OK and look out for a cheap spare tank.
I guess there was over a litre of fuel left in the bike after this job, I rode 400 yards up to the petrol station and got 23.05 litres in.
I was naughty and only had a skirt on as I AM A LADY you know.
