I have tried to research this problem on here tonight but can not find anything on this one ! I ve read the normal "Fuel Strip" not fit for purpose etc posts but mine seems to be doing something a little different !

This morning on the daily commute in I had 60 ish miles showing on the gauge, then the LHS bar gauge went up to the FULL Mark and the count down gauge started to "Go Up" after about 5 miles I've gained an extra 100 miles in the tank (as if LoL).

Filled it up tonight to start and calculate off the odometer.

Has anyone had this problem before, is it the dreaded fuel strip ? or something different than the generic 1200GS fault(s).

Cheers

Ooh that sounds familiar.... mine did exactly the same thing just before the fuel strip failed again - totally! Nothing on the fuel guage at all.

You may have one of the rare "fuel regeneration units" fitted, they were tested by BMW some time back but the patent was bought by BP and the tests were discontinued.

It is said that disgruntled designers let a few GS's slip out with the units fitted in order the let the world know that the technology was available.

Fill up with standard fuel and the regeneration unit will actually generate new fuel, therefore you never need to be filled up again. There are some drawback, you cant ever fill up completely else your tank may overflow if you are not using generated fuel fast enough.

Keep it quiet on here though, else Steptoe will be along looking to dismantle your bike and copy the technology.
