Its a pain in the backside having time off work to get it fixed for the same fault. :blast

What will I do when its out of warranty :nenau

I will be on my 3rd repair in 6 months, at this rate by the end of 2012 will I have the record :duno

Best regards Stretch :)

Ummmm, I thought they'd reverted back to traditional floats on the 2010 model? I'm sitting in Vines at Caterham as I write while my 2010 is having its 6,000 service! I'll ask them and get back to you!!

I alway Zero my trip after a fill up ,you then know you've got 200 or so miles,I dont trust the gauges I've pushed mine home once that was enough:D

No consolation i know but my mate's 1200 multistrada has the same problem (and more) he run out of fuel twice, technology eh!!!!!

Hi Robbo1200se, zeroing the trip meter is not the issue, the issue is its broke and flashing warning triangles at me, most bl@@dy annoying. :blast:blast

Thanks for trying Guys :beerjug: best regards Stretch :)

Yes, I'm wrong!! I'm sure I heard from somewhere that they were planning on doing away with the electronic strip.
Techy bloke at Vines today confirmed that BM have considered it, but for the moment it stays! :(

Not sure if mine's just gone...

Picked the bike up from the dealer yesterday, it's now on 220 miles (range says 194 miles remaining) and still says 1/2 tank... (has done for the past 40-ish miles)... It did say 2 bars above empty last night when I checked (bike was on its side stand when I turned the ignition on though, but today, regardless if upright or on the side stand it's now saying half. I've not filled it up yet either, still on the full tank of fuel from when bought...

2010 30th Edition... And only 1 day old...

Paul, if its still showing signs of life, don't worry about it, you will soon find out if its working when you fill it up again :blast:blast:blast:blast:blast

Good luck Stretch:)
PS when I phoned the dealer they asked me is it knackered showing full or empty  Mine has always shown empty when it has gone:(

fuel guage problem

I had the same problem with my 08 GSA yellow warning triangle light up :( and all the bars on the fuel guage disappeared :blast ... The problem is the dealers try and recalibrate the existing fuel sensor sometimes it works and off you go again for it to fail a few days latter. Insist it gets replaced and should solve the problem. :beerjug:

I'll fill it up tomorrow, see how it gets on! I did some math from the Avg Consumption reading... 220 miles on the clock, 47.8mpg average, so should be 21 litres of fuel used, 12 remaining in the tank... Unfortunately the fuel I will be using is a few fuel cans on the garage (siphoned and filtered off my old bike) and then topped off to whatever in the garage, but the cans are 5ltr capacity, so I can somewhat work out how much goes in hopefully :)

I guess I should have a read of the manual now, see how to reset the trip computer lol

I was on a test ride demo 2010 adventure bike a few weeks back. Range meter said 35 miles left, stopped for a call of nature, would it start again would it bugger, pushed it to a petrol station (next door), stuck a fiver in hey presto starts straight away. Decided to whack another tenner in to get me back to dealer.

The range/miles left crept up in patethetically tiny amounts and took about an 45mins to register 190 miles for the 15 quid id put in.

Seriously shonky!!
Not put me off for a minute though!

Sell it buy a Honda!

The more you tolerate the more BMW will cut costs and take the mick

Well my fuel gauge has started working again :) Just riding along on the bike, said half a tank, farted, and it dropped a bar :) Get in! :coold

Fuel Gauge/Strip "Upgrade"

I called into my dealer today to winge about my fuel strip having failed again and asking for goodwill assist from wmb to be advised "looks like USA is getting replacement fuel strip fitted as upgrade and not recall.

I've been advised to keep in touch as may happen here or ........ have I just been fobbed off !

Dealer told me of new RT with less than 600 miles on the clock that was showing range of 100+ miles that ran out of fuel in fast lane of M1 rider (and bike) made it to the hard shoulder just. Safety issue or what?
