Went out for a ride this afternoon, and happened to look down at the fuel gauge to see it reading full, so im thinking i cant remember filling her up on Saturday!!! Checked the Zumo and as i thought tank was nearly empty. Went to petrol station and filled her up and now the gauge is reading empty!!!
So basical the gauge is reading in reverse  has anyone else come across this? i will be ringing my dealer tomorrow as the bike is still under waranty :thumb

Mine does that too, in fact loads do! had mine into the dealer 6 miles later same happened again, although sometimes it works again. Will take it back again but don't hold out much hope.
just use the trip:thumb

Cant even think how that could be happening ??
If it's a basic floaty type sender it cant read full when empty, guessing it's software problem of some kind.
My only other thought was ....does the reserve light come on when you fill it?or still when it's empty and reading full?

there is no float - far too simple for BMW. Its a thing called a fuel strip which measures the weight of fuel in the tank or summat. Goes wrong all the time - and when it does work its not that accurate:blast
I believe they have had so much bother with them that they have gone back to using a float again:augie

The fuel gauge's are notoriously poor on these GS's we love & adore!!!

Had mine since spring (57 plate GSA 1200), and I simply ignore the fuel gauge - work off the trip instead - circa 10-12 miles per litre of fuel - works a treat :thumb2

I think you had a bike destined for Australia in error.
Take it over there and it will be fine:toungincheek

I am on my fourth gauge and am still having problems. I wonder if its the fuel strip or the software because one symptom is the bike will show a low fuel warning but a high range. E.g. 180 miles. And two or three bars on the fuel gauge.

The bars then drop rapidly on the fuel gauge and the range drops by 1 mile in about 100 yds. Conclusion is the bike knows it has low fuel or it would not show the warning but the information is not being shown on the instruments correctly.

I'm on my third one and it always seems to happen when Im runing quite low, then it starts to go so I take it to refuel and then that's it no bars and the warning triangle on all the time till its fixed :blaste

Yes the low warning amber light is on when the tank is full but reading empty, the range was 198 miles but on the short journey home from the petrol station (1.5miles max) it went down to 163 miles andim assuming that it would have gone down further.

Maybe i should try and turn the bike upside down and see what happens :augie:rolleyes::pullface

Booked in for Saturday to get new fuel strip thingy, they seem to think it might be to do with using Supermarket Super unleaded fuel

Look forward to your coments on this one :augie:rolleyes:

hey seem to think it might be to do with using Supermarket Super unleaded fuel

So on a round the world bike that is supposed to run on anything that will pour into the tank, the fuel gauge will only work on Shell, Esso and BP !!
