Well, having waited three weeks for some fuel clips for my Adv tank, I fitted, filled and fired it up today. The bike ran fine, but the fuel gauge didn't show a dot............I presume that I must have caught the fuel arm up in the internal pipes somewhere, so it looks like it will be a strip again.

Any suggestions.............

Rob

When I replaced my fuel filter I used screw clips rather than the standard pinch clips. The fuel float caught on this and showed the tank to be permanently empty with the resevrve light permanantly on. Replacing the fuel filter is a b@st@rd fiddly job so I decided to modify the fuel lines so the fuel filter was outside the tank (cable tied to the RHS air hose). Thus the fuel float was free to....er... float.

Probably a lame suggestion but was the bike upright...? Mine always show empy unless it has been stood up for a few minutes.

Just a thought.

yep, tank was full, and upright. looks like a nice job for tomorrow morning.........

Might try looping a piece of string around the arm, so that I can check for movement.

thanks

Robin

Check the contacts in the multi-pin plug under the right hand side of the tank. These contacts can get corroded and lead to crap readings from the gauge. Worth trying to clean them up before stripping out the tank internals again...

Mike:)

As suggested by Mike, clean the plug.Same prob when I changed my filter.Sorted with a clean up of the plug and a squirt of WD40.Try this before stripping the assembly again
