I've noticed the external overfill and water drain hoses on my 1100 are perished at the plastic connectors near the right hand throttle body. This probably doesn't bode well for the other hoses in the system so I'm thinking I'll replace the lot and the fuel filter while I'm at it (34,000 miles on the bike so probably due a change).

However, I'm at work so can't actually measure anything - can anyone tell me a size / spec for the fuel tubing used on the bike so I can get it ordered?

Fuel hose is 8x13 as written on said hose. Must be Fuel injection hose (high pressure)
Overflow hose....not sure of size, about 4mm inside dia.

the hose inside the tank needs to be resistant to petrol throughout as it is submerged.

some high pressure fuel hose is made of laminates that are not petrol resistant on the outside. said outer layer falls off if soaked in petrol.

Good point - ta :thumb2

Go carefull not all the hoses are the same size.

Have a look on the EPC link, it should show the sizes on it.

If you look at the top of the 850/1100/1150 page you will see a thread for a parts list. It will show you all the parts on the bike and part numbers. Its not that upto date as the numbers superseed but it will tell you the size of the fuel pipes. Look up the fuel tank and you will be able to find them. EPC stands for electronic parts catalogue. I work at a BMW car dealer so i access to the bikes too.

Ah - gotcha - thanks :thumb2

Excellent - looks like I need a quantity of 8x13 high pressure fuel injector hose and 5x8 together with associated clamps. However, it looks like part 16142325808 is a preformed bend, so might be a dealer only part - I'll see how it looks when I take everything to bits.

This pipe will cost you £20.21 but there are only 2 in the UK. It will take a week to get one from Germany. :)

Flippin' eck - that's an expensive little bit of pipe! :eek

LOL:roll

I thought you might say that..... i can get it for £17 but I would check people like MOTOR WORKS / MOTORBINS to see if they can get it any cheaper. By the time i add postage it won't be any cheaper.

Thanks Stan - I'll have a shop around :thumb2
Everything else looks like it's just normal hose and hence easy to use 'off the reel' stuff - it'd be shame to just leave that little formed hose unchanged though.

I got some of the larger diameter stuff from sherlocks, if I needed that bend I would bend up a piece of 8mm copper pipe and join it up using new rubber and clamps, I have done the external filter mod and used a length of 8mm copper to replace the filter inside the tank, better than paying £20 for two inches of rubber IMO. I also carry a short length of the same in my toolkit in case one of my quick disconnects fails DAMHIK

Good thinking - thanks Stewart :thumb2 I guess the only trouble could be that it's a bunch of extra joints to fail...
