Gentlemen, some help needed.

I've got a 2002 1150 GS Adventure, and there's a fuel leak from the connecter pipe which links the two sides of the tank. At first I assumed it was the O ring in the QR, or the QR itself, but both are fine. Seems to be a split in the pipe itself where it's connected to the right angle QR. It's Sunday, so I won't be able to get any spares today, so a thought about bodging it. I could clamp off the pipe so no petrol flows from one side of the tank to another, and make sure I keep the tank topped up. So, two questions. Are there any other issues I could cause by doing this? And how full will I have to keep the tank to stop fuel starvation?

Blank the pipe off and don't worry about it. The fuel pump and gauge are on the right lobe of the tank and will tell you all you need to know about fuel level. The fuel will slosh around the tank whilst riding and move around the lobes. All you will get is a reduced long range.
