Hello All!

Just when I thought my F800GS was going well, a small blip occured.

On an off road excursion my fuel light came on (it reported NO fuel, even though I knew I had 40+ miles left), then the tank range value went from 30+, to 20, then 10, then 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 very quickly, soon enough I had the '---' with no fuel and no fuel range :O

Any ways, I cleaned my bike off and rode it again, still no fuel! But I fueled up and now it seems to be working correctly? I know it had lots of fuel left before, because it didn't take to much to top it up.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Cheers!

My fuel gauge is a bit binary. It shows full until about 50k to go and then rapidly shows almost empty. I reset the trip computer every time I fill and get about 300k per tank, filling somwhere after 200 just to keep my stress levels down.

Fuel gauge

Mines the same to, fill it up and it gives you 110 miles 120 mileas later it still says 110 mileas then slowly drops down.

fuel guage gs 800

Mines the same to, fill it up and it gives you 180 miles 120 mileas later it still says 110 mileas then slowly drops down
had it remap at bmw . now when i fill it up it will only go to 13o miles and 130 later still full then go fast and then 30 miles left runout they ar rubbish

Same with mine too. I use trip miles and fuel guage instead.

Mine confuses the hell outta me, so gonna start checking how much i can get to the tank and see what the guage is showing as well, may have to carry some spare fuel a couple of times but i'll get there......
Shite really when you pay extra for the feckin technology and it dont work :blast

Because of the shape of the tank, the fuel gauge/sensor cannot read the entire range of the tank. It can only read the bottom two thirds. So it guesses the amount of fuel based upon recent average consumption, hense "> 1xx miles" on the computer.

(at least, this is what i've been told) :blagblah
