Hi Gang,

Still loving my 03 1150gsa. What an amazing bike. Once she's all warmed up after ten or twenty miles, the engine really comes to life.

Other than a bit of cosmetic hammerite and a little rust treatment in one or two spots, she's good to ride. Except for one small thing. You probably guessed from the title what it is:rolleyes:

I've a leak down there! The forum search seems to be saying it's a ten minute job. Get a new switch and just put it in. So, I've two questions about this simple procedure.

1 Do new seals come with a new switch? How many do I need?

2 This is more important, and it's not a trick question but I'm curious, is there another seal to be changed to the right of it? I was told there might be by people I don't mind seeing if it's past my ability but I'd rather not.

Thanks for anyhelp.

Do you mean OIL pressure switch ?

Yes. That's what I ment. Cleaned it with degreaser and it's not an issue as long as I wash it once a week.

It pales into insignificance with the fact I can't change between second and third gear since yesterday:( Sent you a pm about that.

- here it is:

Yesterday, I went out for a blast. Did about 100 miles on backroads:) Near the end of the run, I suddenly found I couldn't down shift from third to second. I actually had to slightly pull the gear selector up to be allowed to downshift:mad: When going from second to third, it dosn't engage either. I have to push down before I can up shift:mad::tears

I took the bike to work this morning, thinking it might be the way the pegs were set or something. Thought I might adjust them to suit my height better.

Anyway, it was worse on the way in to work today.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Owen.

Make sure you get the correct switch for your year of bike - There are two types. One is straightforward to replace, the other isn't if you don't have the correct socket (i.e. very very deep)

They come with the copper washer/gasket.

Are you sure its the switch thats leaking and not just needing a new copper washer?

Stewart

picture. in case anyone's interested.

BTW, thanks for the tips about the gear shift pivot folks. I put a bit of lube on it and it is temporarily fixed. I'll take it appart on Saturday.
