Hi all,

I’m recommissioning an 1150GS which has been off the road for well over a decade. The fuel pump is seized solid, and the ‘brassy’ fuel pump plate/hardware really isn’t in great shape. Thankfully, the tank is absolutely fine!

I’ve got a couple of options - either clean up the whole thing and just replace the pump, or replace the whole thing with a good used fuel pump and mounting plate.

Questions are…

1. Does anyone have any experience of ‘Kemso’ pumps (they’re all over eBay!)
2. OEM used GS pumps seem few and far between….does a pump and mounting plate from an 1150RT fit by any chance?

Cheers
Mike

I’ve fitted loads of the eBay pumps to customers bikes and never had any problems with them. I know a couple of the bikes still have the pumps working perfectly from nearly 10 years ago.

Thanks Steptoe!

Does it really matter if they’re branded or not?

Also, while I have your ear…do you use the crimp-on ‘Oetiker’ style pipe connections when fitting them, or replace these with stainless screw type ones? In either case, what would you recommend I use?

I use stainless screw type, although I have reused the original clips on my own bike without any problems

Website is no longer running. I stopped selling service parts/brake pads etc ..
Still do servicing and repair work but not on the water cooled models.
You can PM me or call 07956 888092.
👍
