I've just changed the fuel filter on my 1150, and since putting the bike back together, I have noticed a loud whine from the fuel pump. The tank is almost full. Has anyone got any ideas? Is it something I have done?

Thanks in anticipation

May depend on the bike...

I had a similar experience on my GSA - turned out that one of the quick release valves on the fuel line wasn't quite seated properly. Not enough to leak, but didn't seem to allow full pressure either. Undid and redid the valve and all was fine.

Ah, that's worth a look. I just installed the quick release fuel couplings to my GS at teh same time. At least its a 10 second job to check it. Thanks :)

Paul,

It worked. I released the couplings then reconnected them, and the whine was gone. Thanks again for the tip.

Bob, I get the same thing since I put quick disconnects on. It happens every now and then, noticeable when theres some sunshine about and I think the line gets de-pressurised. When the fuel pump starts after the depressurisation the sound that you hear is the fuel pump running without load for a second until pressure is up.
