Fuel strip fix

The heater track rarely fails. The sensor track fails regularly. Its got 2 to 10K resistance so it's possibly much thinner material.

The Mylar strip is three layers with the tracks separated and the whole lot sealed. Mine at 50K miles of mostly posh petrol looks pristine but no longer works.

There is really no need to have a two tracks. All they had to do was measure current taken by the heater and work out cooling from there. Too easy I guess.

However, they explained that there would not be a warranty if it failed unless it was fitted by BMW. So, I put it together again and took it to the Dealer....[/QUOTE]
Wise move, I had. Mine rep!aced in July of 2015, I subsequently had 3 more fitted over the next 2 years of the warranty, at least it meant they only cost just over 50 quid each,
Its still ridiculous that I could be effectively still be paying out over 100 quid a year to have an effective fuel gauge.
