Hi my gauge was reading full constantly and having read the various forums re fixing it myself I made my own Piezo zapper cost me £4.50, removed the left hand side panel which reveals the pump then I removed the wiring connector, connected 2 & 3 to the zapper and 6 zaps later Voilà. Re connect the wiring plug Ignition on wait 90 seconds and the reading shows half a tank which after 110 miles is bang on with distance to empty 120 miles. fingers crossed for it lasting.

Hi, Are you going to make some here, or can you post some sort of diagram ?

I bought 2 of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?text=Sub+Miniature+Probe+Clip+Black
and from Asda a Gas igniter piezeo like this http://direct.asda.com/george/george-home/George-Home-Bendy-Gas-Lighter/001455091,default,pd.html
I stripped the igniter down to the trigger which is the black and white bit in the picture, a length of wire to the probe terminals one to each.
To test I put the two probe terminals a couple of mm apart and pressed the button and the spark zapped across the terminals.
Then connected to the fuel strip via terminals 2 & 3 the centre pair and it worked first time. If anyone wants a hand doing it to their machines I will gladly assist there are several write ups on forums re this and it worked for me 1st time. I will post up pics tomorrow of the clips connected to the pump if that helps.
I am near to junction 35 of the M1 if I can assist anyone with this fix

Did the same myself a couple of years ago. It may not last forever though. I had to do it again after three or four months and then a couple of times more after that. It was after about a year later that re-zapping no longer worked. I then just carried on with the warning on permanently till I decided to sell the bike just recently. Not wanting to sell the bike with any faults I bought a new strip from Motorworks and calibrated it myself with my GS911. Did no more than 30 miles to make sure everything was OK then sold the bike. Poxy thing failed on the new owner on the way back to Scotland after collecting from me! :blast Of course as it was not fitted and calibrated by a dealer, no warranty.

Still got the zapper so happy to do the same for anyone else :thumb2

The part still carries a 2 year warranty though.

But fitting it yourself might well have it last longer.

I'm sure its no coincidence that some people have had numerous strips fitted under warranty and others have had them last for years. Rough handling while fitting is likely to damage the carbon tracks inside the strip.

Well it works so far I rode to Bridlington on a full tank of fuel.and after 50 miles the fuel gauge dropped by a bar which is an improvement on the pre fix state so I will keep you updated over the next few weeks, needless to say the zapper is under the seat lol
