Over on ADVRider (USA) I spotted this post. (Maybe old news but put it up on here anyway)

I went to have my GSA fuel strip replaced again (on my dime) this morning, and the dealership told me that, as of today, BMW has extended the fuel strip warranty to 12 years.

So no charge for the replacement. Pretty good news!

12 years

Anyone know if this is the case in the UK. Would be hard for BMW to not offer the same here I think.

Mine was replaced last year, be good to think there will be no more warranty issues with it

But if the fitter is ham-fisted he will damage the new strip leading to early failure. Who knows how we can guard against that but I for one do not want 60 mile round trips every few months for new strips just because the fitter is a klutz.

I am taking an RT in tomorrow that's six years old so I will let you know but don't get your hopes up.

My GSA is on it's third replacement but working ok!

I live in the States and keep a GS in the UK as well. The letter we all received not only states that the fuel level indicator has had the warranty extended to 12 yrs, you will also get reimbursed for parts and labour if you have paid for the part to be fixed at an authorized BMW including reimbursement for out of pocket expenses.

Also states that they will reimburse on eligible out of pockets expenses and for the parts, but no labour. I hope they do the same in the UK.

I spoke to Coopers @ Tunbridge Wells yesterday (am booked in for le flange recall). They've had no official instruction from HO to accommodate warranty extensions on fuel strips.....yet

I had mine replaced this time last year on an October 2009 registered bike. The thing to do seemed to be to book the bike in and then ask the technical service department at the local stealers to contact BMW direct and make the request on behalf of the customer (given that it was a known fault). Once they do this, BMW agree to replace the part and cost of labour.

Hi Keith

What is the flange recall? I have a 2011 GSA and have not been recalled for anything. Coopers is my nearest dealer.

I received a letter from BMW Motorrad UK, informing me that there is the potential for a minor fault to develop relating to the fuel pump flange. It goes on to say..." affected motorcycles may exhibit small cracks on the fuel pump housing. In extremely rare cases, slight leaks can occur, causing a smell of petrol, resulting in the loss of a very small amount of fuel".

Therefore, it's booked in to Coopers on 20th Sept @ 1400 to have an inspection & appropriate action taken.

I've got a 2007 GSA 12, so your model maybe not be affected.....:D

I may just do that when the bike goes in for the recall inspection......:D

My 2009 GSA occasionally 'wiffed' of fuel.

Could be a possible ray of hope for me here!

I have a 2007 GSA and I got the BMW recall letter a few weeks ago on the fuel flange but have not got round to organising anything about it yet.

This week my fuel guage did the dreaded 'No Fuel' and yellow warning light flashing on the dash even though I have at least 3/4 of a tank - Now the gauge spends half it's time warning me I'm riding on vapour and the other half telling me I'm full to the gunnells.........

Based on this thread I am hoping BMW will fix both issues under warranty at the same time that would save me a good wad of cash by the looks of things to fix the fuel strip separately.

Any other good pointers before I try to get BMW to do it all under warranty?

Thanks!

I left my number with them to get mine booked in they never phoned back

I've phoned them a few times previously, left my number & no return call....at least they're consistent! ;)

I'm going to raise the subject with them upon my arrival for the fuel flange job....and see what their response is
