Fuel Tank Breather

I've noticed quite a bit of fluid pooling around the inside of the fuel cap on my 1150GS. Speaking to the guys at Southport they reckoned that the breather is blocked on the left hand side.

A) is this reasonable?
B) any ideas on how to unblock it?

Yep,and yep.

You may want to do a search on this subject as it`s been done to death,but either use something to prod the hole clear CAREFULLY so as not to dislodge the pipe inside the tank,or equally carefully try blowing it clear from either end.

This is not the breather, so stop speaking to the guys in Southport.
The pooling is caused when dirt blocks the filler flange drain, a small hole to the left of the filler opening. Happens regular.
This pipe goes down past the gearbox and emerges in front of the back wheel, near the rear brake master cylinder. There are two pipes there, one in the flange drain and the other is the tank breather. Try blowing in each and see if that does the trick.
If not, you can push a pipecleaner or maybe a small cable-tie into the hole from the top.
Someone suggested blasting it with WD-40 using long spout.
Issue is not to overdo it, and to find a way yhat works because you wil have to do it again in about 6 months' time.

if you dont clear the drain pipe flange fills with water then sucks it in to tank as it expands and contracts well thats what happened to mine
