Full Akra.................

Well if you go Hilltop that's fine Nuts but try and get a readout - I`ll try and do the same for the power commander and we can have a pissing contest eh :D but seriously it might be important (mebbe to me for at least 5 nano seconds.........) to see the differences :thumb2

you will, for sure, get more out the system if you have `something` done :thumb2

Probably so. I did notice quite a difference on the GSA after having it done, so will probably get the XR done as well. We'll see.:thumb

If I wanted an RR contender I think I`d go and buy one!
.............:(

What's the overall gain your wanting then ! Or is it just for looks (I agree the cat is fugly) mine fuelled perfectly and was crisp so if it's not a performance gain you want, it must be something else !

Well, I guess I`m keen to make a fantastic bike just that little better. The zorst does look nicer for sure and the headers get rid of the cat (and the belly pan......) but to have that and not maximise the extra performance via tuning seems like only going half way :blast

So to answer your question I guess the performance gain is what I want as a result of the potential from the replacement zorst :thumb

Its not an RR, I admit that, but its a blisteringly fast bike that I can ride (fast, or at least faster than Nuts :D) coz I`m an old sod :D

Headers

I have bought std headers from an R that are de catted. My intention is to fit these at Xmas and purchase a stubby akra from the naked r , then make a bracket up from the rear set, this should look better than the std angle and let me remove the pillion pegs and hangers.

I'll post pics when I am done.

My headers are on the bike now, but I haven't got the bike back yet, as they're doing a couple of other bits while its in. I'll get some pictures once I've got it back.:thumb

So now youve had the XR a while Nutty.....if u only had one, GSA or XR, which one? I didn't particularly gel on the test ride (I've had bikes that make 175bhp at the back wheel), been there done that n the vibes were a bit noticeable imho, but, I'm thinking maybe I should just go for it next March and get an XR, if I hate it after a year I'll sell it. The GS/GSA being great but not a bike I tend to take out unless touring, albeit doing some fairly big miles on them. What mpg do u get (of some interest as I may end up commuting on it)

I'd still really struggle to choose, to be honest, as they are so different, and deliver their power differently. When I go away on the GSA, I couldn't imagine not having it, as it's such a good all rounder. I've not done a proper trip on the XR yet, just the odd overnight here and there, but am planning on taking the XR over to France around Easter, so will know for sure then.

I probably need to take the XR out again but for a bit longer next time. Hmm...Decisions decisions.

I ran a pcv on my RR with a generic map , at first I also kept the original headers decatted with an AR GP tail pipe with baffle.
When it went on the dyno it was 20 bhp down on standard , though it did sound nice.

I got rid of the PCV and fitted a full arrow system and had it remapped by Geoff , the difference was night and day , I wouldn't buy a PCV again , though they are supposed to be better with the auto tune added.

One of the biggest things I noticed after removing the original system with CAT was the weight , and how the bike handled , oh and the infectious banging with the QS :)

Akra, fitted.:beerjug:

that a very pretty bike..looks loads better with the cat gone

How much does the stock headers and cat weigh compared to the akra's !

The headers and the tail tidy have made the bike look how it should have, from the factory. Bloody EU bollocks ruining our bikes!:rob:D

Not sure, as the headers were sent straight to Bahnstormers. I can weigh the stock can and headers if you want?

Sorry Nutty, I don't normally dis other peoples bikes ...........but well, you have form saying my 1190R was ugly :D

The headers are indeed a work of art, but please, that silencer is an abomination of the highest order. What's happened to Akra, they used to make such sexy kit :nenau

It's not just your bike either, the 1190 and 1200GS Akra silencers are just as grim..........

I thought the same when I first saw pictures of it, but in the flesh it looks much better. Especially from behind with the baffle out.:drool

Sometimes pictures don't do things any justice. Like your KTM!:P :D

The noise that comes out of this thing with the full Akra more than makes up for any doubts on the way it looks!:green gri
