Looking through What Bike, they reckon the 1150GSA will be replaced with a 1200GS version next year. I wasn't looking at pricing when the 1200GS came out, so what happened to the straight 1150GS prices at that time ?

I'm tying to decide when's the best time to strike on a 1150GSA over the next 6 months. Obviously don't what to get one and find the price gets a knock 3 months later, any suggestions?

The R1150GS had pretty much sold out by the time we'd taken delivery of the first R1200's and we were still being asked if we could get a new 'old' GS some months later. The R1150GSA is a model much in demand (i'm buying as many good used examples as i can get at the moment), fulfilling a need that the 1200 doesn't meet and appealing to many existing 1150GS owners.
It's unlikely that there will be any discounting of the Adventure and NO news of a replacement in 2005.
Go on, take the plunge, you won't regret it!

If there's anymore failure of brakes on servo'd bikes they are going to be unsellable secondhand. Especially after the warranty has run out.

Matt, get yourself one of the last non servo'd Advs.

You bet Paul..............ABS can be scary........better get a non ABS asap

Same thing as your lay-by experience happened to me on servo and non servo GS's and it's not pleasant............fortunately I didn't hit anything

ABS - on reflection the advantages probably outweigh any disadvantages. I was just caught out by their low speed characteristics on the first 'no grip' surface of the autumn season.
On the dark, wet, overcrowded M62 they are a reassurance!

But I would not ride a servo braked bike. There have been too many reports of brake failure (down to 5% power IS failure!). The national press has even picked up on it. How do we know someone hasn't died yet from these failures?

Servo - NO!

ABS - personal choice.

Safe riding............

Is it possible then to convert a servo GS to non servo ? . Surely it's just a change of calipers and reservoirs and some piping.

Just a thought.
