G Shock has frozen/ locked display

I have a Casio G shock 3434 and the display has locked/frozen.
No combination of button presses, can change the displays or settings and the light button doesn’t illuminate anything at all.

Any ideas from the more experienced persons on here, or am off to the jewellers?

Take the battery out for a while, and while the back is off a gentle clean of the push-button contacts won't hurt it.
