G1100PS Mount - New mount almost born

But will my 60C still fit remembering that I have a standard screen with Touratech screen extender which I intend to keep...
I'm not 100% sure Richie, but I think the MRA screen comes closer to the rider than the standard GS screen. And the RAM mount is very flexible of course. You can always move the unit closer or lower, no problem.

The first anodized mounts will be ready in two weeks, I'll soon get one mounted on an 1100 with standard screen then I suppose. More pics will follow then.

Cheers,
Michel

I notice in the picture showing the 276 that the antenna is horizontal - this will really degrade antenna performance. That particular type of antenna (used on the 276, SP III, etc.) needs to be within 15° of vertical to work well.
With the SPIII, I often had the antenna in horizontal position. Maybe the performance is a few % lower, but I never had problems with it.

I just noticed, looking at the picture of the RAM bracket that is holding the 2610 that the upper part of the bracket almost perfectly covers exactly the area where the antenna of the 2610 is located. Doh... don't think RAM did their homework 100% on that one...
The bracket is plastic, so I don't think it makes a difference for the antenna patch. And it's much more secure than the Garmin motorcycle bracket. I heard a horror story a few weeks ago, of a guy whole nearly lost is 2610 because it popped out of the Garmin bracket twice! It was "saved" by the power cable.

The only doubt I have about it is vibration (and reach, maybe), My clocks do on occasions bounce a little, Having this attached, will they bounce more?

Yes, the added weight does count.
That's why I recommend using the short RAM arm, to limit the lever.

On paved roads it's not an issue but if you're into heavy off-roading it can be a problem.

Hi Migsel.. thanks for the comments and nice pics too..

The arm that attaches onto the Migsel baracket can be used with the metal type, standard arm RAM-B-201 or the shorter version RAM-B-201-A plus diamond base RAM-B-238 and then cradle.

Some parts available in plastic with limited arm choice, the standard arm RAP-B-201 plus diamond base RAP-B-238 and then the cradle.

I have been using this on my 1100 since last summer (with GPS60c) and I have no issues with 'bouncing' at all. I haven't been off road with it yet but as I still have the standard RAM-ball on the handle bar it takes just seconds to switch it if it looks like it's taking a hammering. I use the 3" RAM arm on mine :thumb

Hi Migsel,
Do you have any idea how this mount would work with a Lowrance iWay 500c? The main concern I have is that the iWay is a pretty heavy unit. Just how strong is the mount? I'd hate to have it break the whole instrument cluster. You have a great design and mount. :bow

Hi Makalu,

Is that the unit that weighs almost 1 kg?
In that case I would not recommend it.

Garmins like the SPIII / 276C / 2610 / 2720 are fine on the mount but they weigh 400 - 500 g. Putting twice that weight on the mount would be a bit too much I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Michel
