I use my 450 exclusively for challenging green lanes (and unavoidable linking roads) and followed the advice of old sages in the Trail Riders Forum, which was to leave the front OE enduro tyre and replace the rear with a trials tyre - a Metzeler MT43. Result was my first ever ride without throwing the bike down the 'road'. What this means in practice is on slippery surfaces the enduro tyre gave no warning and had me on my ear in an instant, whilst the MT43 slides progressively and is catchable.
No idea about comparable life of the tyres but it was a transformation that I'd heartily recommend. However, I suppose it all depends what terrain you use the bike on...
