Makes me wonder which one does the serious miles......

Guess what, my wifes 650 Transalp did it too and survived a bit of off road action whilst we were in the Alps too.

Anybody would think that we were crazy attempting it on bikes which were so lacking in power

There's a vid somewhere of a knackered old airhead doing a rally somewhere and a certain member from this site binning it on a full blown dakar machine, where the airhead had no probs.

It ain't always what you ride

JB is a good rider and can probably get the best out of an XChallenge. There are many owners of similar bikes that can't. I know of a guy that can outride most people......his choice of machine is a 650 Transalp. Crazy world isn't it

Having had a Dakar and now got an XChallenge

The XC scores off road over the Dakar in lots of ways - weight/suspension and power delivery and it's not too bad on the road.

The Dakar is far better on road and for what it is, not bad on wide,open trails
