Gambia on an airhead?

Was on the bike when I bought it. Previous owners had obviously done a lot of touring on the continent and beyond judging by the stickers.
As proff said, It would be very easy to have something similar made up but as the tank comes with the mounts, I would think there is something that should go on there, Ask HPN

Will give them a ring in the morning, might ask about the tank bag when I'm on :augie

Patyman when you say the bobbins are much bigger do you mean the thread / pitch diameter? or just generally ?

A Wee black powder coated rack would look good on there Roger? :D :D :D

No I mean the size of the rubber, at a guess almost an inch in diameter. The nuts on top are a 10 mm I think.

I would not recommend using the batterycarrier-screws for mounting something on the tank. They tend to fall apart when they are stretched. It’s better to use a standard 6mm screw and insert it in a short piece of fuel-pipe:

Well work was totally pissing me off today but the sky had a hint of blue in it and something was shining so just before 12 I switched the answering machine on, got the bike gear and took the Gambia bike out for a few hours.

Got back about half five with a bloody big grin on my face, even with 33 litres of fuel on board (did not go for the full, monty :augie) the lower weight distribution made riding a dream and if anything an improvement over the standard in the handling department.

The Sito exhaust IMPO sounds brilliant, deeper than the standard and seems to be more free flowing, yes it's mild steel with a coating but a great alternative to the stock or the Keihan and great value for money from the UK suppliers compared to their European counterparts.

On the latest additions front, finally managed to sort out a mount for the Zumo courtesy of John Armstrong who supplied me with a BMW mount for the 1200 yolk top bracket for the Nav II.

The actual mount that fits on the bracket attaches to the handlebar cross brace ad some shiny 4mm alloy cut and drilled makes a perfect mounting point for the controller for the Oxford Hotgrips I fitted yesterday. :bounce1

Zumo mount part 2.

Been playing with a couple of things today, first off the alloy mounting plate for the Zumo.

Decided to utilise the mounting plate by making a wider section from 5 mm alloy to take the Oxford Hot grips controller, an led voltage indicator (psst Kenny it works, I've got one for you :augie) and provide additional space for switches should I ever find the right lights, an additional BMW accessory socket and the controller for my Chili heated jacket.

I'd ordered a couple of the LED voltage indicators some time ago, basically they are connected into any switched and monitors the voltage within the system showing red when voltage is insufficient for battery charging, amber when it's marginal and green when sufficient for charging.

Very simple to mount (if you have the space) and requires a 14mm hole to take the supplied bezel.

Between this and the previously fitted BMW volt meter I should be able to keep an eye on the power consumption of the extras I've fitted.

Gear shift

I've had previous experience of the gear shift roll that Migsel supplies and found when fitted to an adapted stock gear shift and lowered wider foot pegs it provided a more positive, smoother gear action compared to the O/E shift.

As the Gambia bike had lowered pegs fitted I intended to order another gear shift roll from Migsel but then found a shift roll combined with an alloy gear lever from good old Boxxerparts listed at a reduced price on their

.

More expensive than buying the shift roll and cutting the O/E gear shift but this version allows more adjustment to the position of the roll to find the perfect "sweet spot" no matter what size foot you have and in addition it's a bit of bling FFS :D

I have paid up Roger, well half anyway:augie you just make sure you stay off the weed:D Oh! and good luck with it..
