Blowing up a Storm

Well after a bimble up the road on the bike I spent a few hours today stripping the bodywork off just to see what lay beneath.

Have to say I was very suprised, not one nut or bolt locked in place, all came out like they had been fitted yesterday and the wiring loom is in great nick.

Everything is welded on this bike, fittings for HPN tank included which makes things very strong. Initially I was going to ditch the FJR fairing for something more traditional like an HPN Adventure fairing but on seeing the work that's gone in to fabricating the front sub frame and how much protection the FJR gives for the rider I've decided to run with it for now, of course I change my mind more often than my under crackers so who knows what will happen

Custom built rear sub frame is a bit special as well, uses the same diameter of tube as the front frame and should be more than able to cope with a rider and full luggage.

The custom built exhaust system is interesting (IMPO), the end cans are BS stamped and easy to take apart for re-packing.

Back at the front end the WP Forks and yolk are in excellent condition, not a sign of corrosion on the fork tubes and the action is smooth as silk. Going to send them for a service though

Its a work in progress in keeping with the spirit it's creator intended. Just had a chat with Shapeshifter who new Roger Slater {who died at a track day at cadwell in 2001} and actually helped with fettling the original bike so I'll just temporarily pick up the reins so to speak
