I have a 2820 and would like to use all its features on the bike, mp3, bluetooth to my phone and the navigation voice in my crash helmet.

I tried connecting a Starcom headset and mic directly to the 2820 and although it worked the cable I made up is not robust (my soldering skills need some practice).

So what do I do now?

Seems I have little alternative than to buy a Starcom unit and fit to the bike and use the starcom leads between the 2820 and bike unit. Has anyone got experience of this with the 2820? Are you able to make phone calls using the 2820 / Starcom combination. I like the on screen phonebook and caller information so I want to avoid connecting my phone directly to the Starcom unit.

I cannot seem to find anywhere that will make up a professional set of leads and plugs which would be sufficiently robust for my current set-up.

Tyrone,

Does the Scala rider have 2 speakers? I thought there was only one which would make listening to music a pain.

Also, what's the battery life like if you are playing MP3's through it?

Assuming the Starcom unit/Starcom leads dedicated to the 2820 work (and there is no reason that they should not), then you should have the same functionality as my 2820/Autocom combination.
Perfect telephone communications with home etc. with the phone either in your pocket or topbox and bluetooth switched on and paired. Dial home from the 2820.
Because the 2820 is bike-powered, the Autocom unit needs a lead with a built in ground-loop isolator.

Hi Mate,

There are 3 version. The version I have has only got one speaker which cost about £69, the second version has 2 speakers and can be used for or rider to pillion @ £179, the third version has an FM radio build into it. What I did was to buy the cheaper one and then just connect up another 2 headphones from an old headset, Hey Presto sound in both ears works fine and I am quite happy with it. Standby I have had 8 days out of it, Listening to music non-stop about 6 hours then need a full charge which won't take very long

The lead from the Autocom unit to the 2820 (with the ground-loop isolator) is that a lead you obtained from Autocom? I searched their website a could not find any mention of it.

Thanx
