Hi all, looking to upgrade my old 2610 and i just wondered for about the same money if you i should get a new 340lm or a 2nd hand 660?? any thoughts, views would be appreciated :thumb2

340LM, unless you fancy some of the features of the 660 over the 340, like (I believe) the ability to use a phone on the go. Me? I wouldn't want to.

This might be a good deal: https://www.louis-moto.co.uk/artikel/garmin-zumo-340lm-louis-edition-sat-nav/10004595

Cheers wapping, phone on the go is also something am not interested in really, simpler the the better and ease of use is more important to me as am not much of a techno phobe, as trying to download some of your routes proved way to hard for me:blast

340lm is the way to go then.

I'm no IT whizz but what problems did you have?

I think the 340 only comes with Western Europe, fine if you never ever intend to go east. If you do get the 390, that comes with all of Europe.

340LM with Western Europe mapping is currently on a special at £199 in Aldi stores, stocks limited.

Can't remember 100%, but I think the 340 etc have back lit screens, which is a massive improvement over the 660 etc in bright sunlight.

Tarry, the 340lm is the way to go mate. I had a 390lm for the past few years that packed up just before the Aldi deal went live so was fortunate enough to to pick one up at the deal price.

It's so much better than the 2610 you won't believe it. :thumb

Other than the faster re calculating I don't think it is that much better if at all. Different, yes, but like all later Garmins the software is the same as the car devices. I only gave up my 2610 when it just gave up the ghost. I now have a 390 not a 340 as I needed the whole of Europe mapping. It works fine but nothing about it would have had me buying it were the 2610 still functioning

The problem am having is getting the downloaded maps to open on my laptop which is purely down to my inept computer skills, when i get the new sat nav i will have a chat with some of the members of this parish at the next meet :thumby:

I have got a couple of 2610 and they are /were brilliant like you say BUT some of the features on the newer devices are brilliant . If nothing else then the ability to take the nav into your hotel room/tent and route plan is a big Brucey bonus .
