Garmin City Navigator

Kenny

Can you clarify - did your BMW Navigator come with City Select version 4.00?

I'm curious!

Greg

PS I take your point about BMW dealers being on basemap (but it's a bit of a bugger is the dealer moves eg Park West, as not even Garmin can change the basemap!)

Is the cover for Andorra any better.
v4 is next to useless there.:bash

The maps in Andorra La Vella are now showning the hotels etc, whether the roads are any better will take a little longer to have a look at.

No, it came with,

The BMW Navigator comes with European City Navigator v4:)

as for the basemap I do believe that Garmin can reinstall base maps if they become corrupt or damaged.

Sorry, I meant City Navigator.

But is it version 4.00? (on a white tag on the back of the CD box)

Got my CitySelect 5 update CD in the mail yesterday.

As I had never registered my 4.0 that came with the SPIII Deluxe, the update is totally and completely free!

I have just recieved my "Update" CD. I installed some areas of it (not enough free space) on my laptop. To unlock I used the code I got for the V4 CD and it worked.

unlock codes

I tried that but it does not work.
It all works ok with the choice of using v4 or v5 from Mapsource but there is no street level detail with v5 using the v4 code.
Still trying for a free code.

You're right. My mistake. It comes up like the base map sort of detail. Buggers!
Think I'll uninstall it.

Go to Garmin's unlock page and key in your Customer code. Follow the rest of the instructions. You will either get a free unlock code (as I did and others have) or be asked to pay $150.

The key to getting it free is to have registered your v.4.xx after 15 January 2003. If you haven't registered at all, you won't have a customer number.

I hope this helps

Greg

Just done it all and got it free.
I don't normally bother to register at all. But thanks to this discussion, I registered after v5 had been launched. (oops, what a give away :D )
