I use Garmin express on a MacBook Air and recently the Mac has been giving me a message saying that Express will not work on a future upgrade of the Mac OS.
I have looked on Garmin and there is no update or reference to this.
Has anybody seen this message or have any info on this message?
TIA
Paul

Just found this on a google search (typical after my original post)
Garmin Express does not yet offer a native version compiled for Apple Silicon Macs. It relies on Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation layer to run on modern Apple Silicon hardware. If the "next" version of macOS completely drops support for Rosetta 2, Garmin Express will stop working.
I have a M2 Mac which I believe is a Apple Silicon Mac so am wondering if Garmin is going to bring out an update !!

Yes it is Apple Silicon.
No, Garmin is not going to update most probably. At least not in time (they are already ~5 years late).

To be fair, Garmin Express has been close to unusable on my Macs for quite a while as it doesn't "recognise" most of my Garmin devices.
If it's "vital" for you to have Garmin Express, you can postpone the S/O (MacOS) update.

Is there an alternative to Garmin express for registering devices and updating software and maps?

I have a 62c and a Zumo.

62c I can do manually.
Zumo can update software and maps on its own. No computer needed.

No idea about registering.
To be clear: this is Garmin's inexcusable fault. They keep selling the devices and should keep up with the software development, at least for the basics (given their convoluted practices around mapping and such).

Yes, sorry, forgot to add it's a Zumo XT.
Older models will need a computer.

I have a Garmin 390 so it needs Garmin express.
I have access to a PC so will move over to that.
I suppose we can hope Garmin get their shit together :DD

Yep.
Same shit will happen to Basecamp (that I still use).
I have an older intel Mac mini that I remote access. Will move all the garmin software on that one when the time comes.

Which Garmin? I suspect @er-minio has an XT

Older devices like the Nav 6 or 390 need Garmin Express for updates

Find a friend with an Intel Mac or Windows Pc
And the over the air WiFi update on the XT never works.
I don’t think it’s an option on my Montana 700i, either.

Yes. You should be ok with Windows.
One can also emulate a full intel Mac inside an Apple Silicon Mac. But we get esoteric :)

Always works for me on my XT. Never had an issue.

Never works on either of mine. I make sure WiFi updates are off especially when on a trip as one turned into a brick due to a failed update while I was away.
