They don't, they didn't, I told you and still you went and bought one (60CSx) so stop with the self pitying and go buy my mate's 2610 then he'll buy the Zumo he wants and you'll be happy(ish)* again :D













* I don't for one second belive something like this will change you from your normal Victor Meldrew state btw, but I see it as an endearing feature for you

Don't put unit in your helmet and place in top box, as when you forget its there :eek:

Phoned Garmin cannot find number at this time but go to

They charged me £117.00 odd for repair the first time, when the Nav 11 was not clipped in to the bike mount and went for a trip on its own. They sent a new unit with new mounting, maps the lot.

This time still cost £117.00 but got the 550 instead as they could not forward replacement Nav 11 within 8 weeks.

I have found them to be A1 with after sale service :thumb2 :bow

It seems as the functionality of the new Zumo 660 is less than the old Zumo 550 and MUCH less than the 278. But this in line with Garmins ambition to make easy to use devices for the stupid mass. The Zumo 660 is a waterproof car GPS. Nothing else. It's great on a Harley on main roads but useless offroad or for adventures.

Those of us that rides on small countryside roads and creates routes with Mapsource are probably less than 1% of the users. Garmin just dont care. No business value for Garmin.

If you own a GS with Touratech boxes but still ride on Anakee or Tourance tires - go ahead, the Zumo 660 fits you perfect. You will never ride on a gravel road anyway.

While riding, it is easy to access trip information directly from the zūmo’s trip information page like speed, heading, altitude, and a customizable fuel gauge that can be modified to the motorcycle’s maximum fuel range. If a rider wants to leave the pavement for the trail, the zūmo accepts Garmin’s MapSource® U.S. Topo maps for off-road navigation. Sharing rides with others or keeping a detailed log of trips is also easy thanks to zūmo Connect, an online community of routes and riders. Zūmo owners can also plan routes online through Google or MapQuest and send the routes or points of interest to the zūmo before they begin their journey. In addition, riders can swap routes and waypoints with other zūmo owners via the unit’s microSD card slot.

Noisy, smelly, shaky things. Wonderful!

Then we want to load them up with every new technological gadget under the sun. We've lost the plot.
I love all kinds of gadgets too. And do have a Zumo that plugs-and-plays on 2 wheels and 4. But it stands alone, no add ons, blue teeth, telephones or anything. These toys just help a little. If it fell off I'd still find my way with old fashioned map. :beerjug:
 
I have just seen at www.mynewcheap.co.uk that they are listing the 660 at £449.99 and are taking pre-orders for delivery from 26th March . The site also seems to list the functions and accessories .

Does this mean that you can no longer specify your preferences (Setting->Navigation->Avoidance Setup) for each type of road, Major, Medium, Minor (Prefer, Don't avoid, Avoid)? I know the Nuvi's do not allow this type of preference setting. The SP2820 & 2720 do which is why I still use them and have not upgraded.
 
Just seeing if I could find a UK price yet, and what the mounts would look like and got sucked into review the Garmin site again. From:

it now says it has 20 routes (when I first looked it had 10 - see first page of posts). Actual text is:

20 (additional storage on microSD™ card)

So either it was a typo / humnnas error when they first released the spec (always forgive corrected mistakes!!) or Garmin are listening. I really can't see myself not getting one now (bye bye 2610) assuming bonus pays out this year (very big "IF").
