Garmin finally announce Zumo 660

The amount of track log saved is still an issue, last I heard of it was only 10,000 points, around 3 days riding. There's no reason it can't be saved to the card and be unlimited like the original Zumo, but we need to know...

If it's anything like my Nuvi 770 (& the Nuvi 550 is), then it'll just keep saving track logs until it runs out of memory. I've just downloaded some, and they go back ages.

Regarding the max number of routes - there is no limit to the number of gpx files you can have - either using internal memory or the data card. You can only then load 10 (or 20?) at once. You can do this when away on a trip. Put it another way - the maximum number of routes IS NOT A LIMITATION :comfort

Any images of the mounting floating about yet?

In the box shall be a Motorcycle mount with mounting hardware

It will similar to that of earlier zumo models, but square base replaces round base. Cast bracket has again, 1" u-bolt (handlebars) and metric/imperial thread screws (clutch/brake clamp assy).

So its a RAM-B-178-A (short arm) or as Garmin part 010-10962-00

No nuffing 'bout the cradle or power lead

I think some people are considering reserving one just in case they are in short supply to start with.
Normally I would wait, but I'm picking my GSA up tomorrow and want a SatNav for it ASAP.

Lastly, may I recommend NOT to buy from purely gadgets, they told me they had them in stock which turned out to be untrue. They also lost my order.

And I'd second that - same story here and then took weeks to get my money back from them. Avoid this outfit!

:nenau sorry guys, but that's another story ...

The point is .. and regardless who has bestet, cheapest, lowest price :blagblah all you can do is pre-order, which may also mean pre-payment, which may mean you cannot cancel, as already said they're not shipping/available until Q2 .. if you pre-order then make sure that your card is not charged by the supplier.

Seems they're a couple of bad experiences already with one supplier, so be wary. Ok watch prices if that excites you, but, real decision time is at the expected release/arrival date (which has not been given yet), then buy.

Good advice. I have pre-ordered with purelywebstores ( see my link) they confirmed they would only charge my card on dispatch, also got a follow up e-mail this morning stating the same so happy with their service so far :)

I agree with RAMMAN he is correct we should temper our excitment its like next month I will be Stateside and they have them (660) avaialable but they are U/S for us as the maps are pre loaded and fixed in drive.

My only downer that seems to be after seeing the demo's etc on this thread is that you can only place 10 routes? When we do a little Europe tour we use about 12-15? and I know people who will need even more?

Amyway lets see what it's all about soon enough. and Ramman is right keep your dosh until we have!
