I've just found a 256mb CF card in my desk drawer with a gmapsupp.img file on it. I don't have any Garmin devices now which use cf cards, but I did used to have a 2610 which I think did use cf and so it may be a card I used to use in that. I'd like to find out what the maps are on the img file before I delete it - anyone know how I can do that?

thanks:thumb2

I'm pretty sure that mapsettoolkit can do that - a very useful piece of software if you're playing with Garmin maps!

Correction, you want gmaptool (from http://www.anpo.republika.pl/download.html) - when I commented about mapsettoolkit earlier, this is what I was really referring to.

When you run it, select the gmapsupp.img file and click on properties - it will then work its way through the file and tell you the names of all the tiles in the image :thumb2

Gmaptool is truly excellent - it can tell you just about any information about the contents of map images, and if you have your unlock key, you can even add overlays to your maps. In fact, you can even extract your unlock key from your existing maps.

Excellent, thank you Tobermory Womble - I can now see it's CN v9 and probably therefore from my old 2610 and out of date.

That Gmap tool is very good, seems to do lots of other useful things that I can't quite work out.
