Garmin Mobile for BlackBerry - Free Trial

I see that it is USD 100 for a 'Lifetime' subscription?

If it is downloaded to a BlackBerry and the BlackBerry is then replaced / upgraded, is the subscription transferred to the new device? Or do you have to re-subscribe for another 'Lifetime'?

No, and Yes.

There is a way around it though, apparently involving copying a file from the system in the Blackberry across to the new one.

I haven't bothered with it meself 'cos Garmin mobile doesn't get very good reviews from the BB community, and I've got BB maps, Google Maps and Google Earth free anyway :nenau

Trial overview

Good points:
If you have/or had a Garmin unit is very easy to navigate the menu.
Post code enabled .
Recalculate very fast ,but the remapping can be slow (Same issue with the BB mapping).
On street level (pedestrian mode) the max zoom was only 1/1000.Small side streets didn't show on the map .On the full version is much better ,but the Garmin rep. couldn't tell me the exact zoom level.
500 way points can be added.
If your BB is faulty and you get a replacement , Garmin will resend the subscription free of charge , as long as is a same BB model device . The subscription is not transferable to a different make phone either .
Garmin syncs with your BB address book ,neat.

Bad points:

After using the Garmin application for 30min , I lost 35% power from full charge:eek:.
I tried the fastest route and than the shortest route , it made no difference. On my Nav.III the fastest route directs me via the motorway.
Limited POI , again the Garmin rep. assured me that the full version will have more POI.
Speed camera location is not included , you have to pay for the service.

Is it worth having? Well, the problem is the amount of battery power the application is using and a small matter of $99. If you go over to the US that is a extra $99.
I shall try the Google version.
