Garmin Montana - The perfect road /off road GPS

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, if i buy a montana 600 without the OS 1:50K mapping, is there any kind of basemap or is the montana just blank?

Thanks

There is a world basemap showing major roadway routes.
You can load the whole of Europe as City Navigator in to the hard memory

A couple weeks ago I got GO OUTDOORS to price match with 10% discount from that website and got the montana with full OS mapping for £305.10 which was the cheapest I could find.

Navi-technology have just dropped their package price by £30 :blast

have dropped them an email and asked about the quality of the bike mount- cheers Timpo :thumb

I also had a look at "go outdoors", but they don't do a comparable bundle off the web?

get the most basic model (unless you want the built in camera) download all the mapping you wish and job done.

my zumo died on a trip this year so had to find another GPS sharpish and them Timpo helped me set it up.

I just transferred the maps from my zumo to the garmin in the gps shop.

montana 600 and the hard wired bike mount was just under £350

The bike mount in that link is the unpowered cycle mount. It's a good quality solid piece of equipment but you would probably prefer the powered version for the bike.

This place seems to be offering the best deals, even after cotswold's offering and discount codes!

So i ordered one of these units, assuming that as they had a UK web address, and a contact address in london, that i was dealing with a UK company.

Just checked the track and trace on the shipping details, and it's been dispatched from Los Angeles, California.

Now the last time i checked, California isn't in the UK, so i doubt i'll be getting this anytime soon :blast

Montana - Back in love with Garmin!

Got a Montana 600 for Christmas, bargain at £309. Its restored my faith in Garmin products after 2 years in the wilderness with the Zumo 600

Profiles, custom maps, OS mapping, fully customizable display and an external temperature sensor available too, well done Garmin :thumb2

PS. I've tried to upload a couple of custom maps (kmz format) I've made but it's limited to 122kb and the smallest I have is 182, so that's a none starter, sorry folks :(

What file format does it run, receive and export?
Can you receive tracks from another Peaky owner in the field?
Hard wire power delivery to the cradle? And then what sends power from cradle to unit?

Yes hard wired to a cradle and comes with mounts too.

Jase XT gave me a tutorial today but not sure if you can exchange tracks in the field although it does have bluetooth.

I'm using Memory map, importing a gpx file, converting to route and sending to gps (mobile device). Then shows as a track.:thumb
