Any of you GPS savvy people have an opinion on these two Garmin models?
I will be mounting the GPS on my R1200GS using Touratech fittings, but I can't decide which of these two units would be most suitable for motorcycling.
I don't anticipate using them for finding my way around cities, just country touring.
Many thanks,

The two units are different ends of the spectrum particularly in terms of price and display.

They will both do a good job on the bike. If you want a capable but expensive unit with a great display and lots of features then go for the 276C - I did.

The Quest is quite a bit smaller but if that's okay with you I believe it'll pretty much do what the 276C does at a much lower price.

They are both water resistant and have their own battery, unlike the 2610.

Can't comment on the 276C as i've never owned one, I do however own a quest, and have to say, I LOVE IT.

The display is plenty big enough, the battery lasts a good 18-20 hours (genuinely) and the internal memory is proving to be plenty big enough for all tours i've planned so far, with ease.

I think it's a great unit, which for my money is the best buy out there when price is factored in.

just my two penneth...

good luck with your choice.

If you can live with the small screen size then the Quest will probably do what you want. I've jumped the other way and bought 276c (arrived last week) and I'm glad I went for the larger screen. I'd previously been using (for 2 years) a GPSMAP76s and that has a slightly larger (B/W) screen than the Quest and it was a little too small, though it didnt autoroute or prompt either so that didn't help. If money is no object get a 276c (or 2610?) but dont forget a 276c also needs the automotive kit too.

276C

I looked at the quest but bought a 276C, its three times the screen size and just does a lot more of everything.

Thanks for your input.
I think that the larger screen size may be the deciding issue.
Not sure whether the smaller memory of the Quest is an issue or not. I suspect that it just means more map management when doing longer trips rather than being able to load all maps at once.
Thanks again.

Memory size is probably not an issue when deciding between these 2 units;
the Quest has 243 MB and the GPSmap 276C has a max of 256 MB
(unless, of course, you plan to buy multiple expensive Garmin cards for the 276)

PS
Only the US and Australian versions of the Quest have 115 MB and it looks like the Aus version will shortly have 243 MB to cope with the larger size of City Navigator Australia v6.
The European Quests have always had 243 MB of internal memory for loading maps.
