Is it possible to increase the memory of a Garmin V? I'm going to the continent later this year and my suspicion is that the 19mb won't get me very far

thanks

Martin

no you can't do anything to increase the size of the V's memory and unless you are very specific about which areas of The Continent you wish to have in street by street detail you are right, it won't get you too far.
But there will be bits you are travelling through, for which the basemap will be adequate, and there will be places you want to explore which will probably be no more than 19mb unless you are going for a very long time.

otherwise you have options....
take a laptop.....
get a 2610........
use a map........
take a chance........

There is a guy in the US who has replaced the internal memory to 256mb I do recall, it is a very complex operation and requires special programming.

Time and money would be better spent on a new Quest.

gulp ... and rob a bank? For the price of a new one I'd have to sell my old R80/7...

Na, stick with the 19mb, and be selective about where I use the GPS - best restaurant/bar/beach in France ...:D

Look Here

I understood from this whilst technically possible, its not for the typically biker with a soldering iron.
