Im thinking of replacing my aging Quest with a Zumo 550......

Questions: 1: does the bike cable fit with BMW socket?
2: Does it fit on a Ram Mount ball? (as I alreaduy have a Migsel mount and would like to keep it)

..... any further comments..

Thanks all

The Zumo comes with
- a car cigarette lighter lead with a rubber windscreen sucker cradle
- a cradle that cab be bolted to a RAM Mount with a lead that has trailing wires (and I believe contains an inline fuse)
- a RAM mount (with a ball) with a short RAM arm and a u-bolt style RAM ball

Touratech do a lead with a BMW CANBUS socket on one end and a Zumo Cradle socket on the other - cost approx £35

BMW dealers can supply a CANBUS lead with trailing wires that can be connected to the trailing lead in the kit - think this is cheaper than the TT lead

You might want to look in the GPS section for more info

Zumo Power Lead

Zumo comes with a power lead, chop off the canbus socket. Wire up red and white on canbus to red on zumo, brown on canbus to black on zumo. The 3rd canbus lead just securely blank off. If you don't want to remove the canbus socket then you can splice the above wires in behind the socket if you are nifty with electrics.

Works a treat.

1. No, but it'd be easy to splice the supplied one into your existing arrangement.

2. Yes. But check with RAM and/or Migsel about comaptability.

And register at http://www.zumoforums.com for everything Zumo....
And ditch the Garmin Camera database and use the camera database at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras

Thank You all.

As usual with this site, knowledge in abundance...

Many thanks to all replies. (looks like Im going to be buying a Zumo 550)

the Quest will be for sale eventually, and I'll keep you in mind

Appreciated :)

I have a Mk1 Quest bin in the FS for yonks and nobody replied so thought the Quest was a dead duck... Can,t find the pics now but it was about 3 months ago.. Full house Ram mount and power thingy with BM plug that fitted to the dash outlet.City select V6 and V7, Mains charger with UK and EU 2 pin plug. Not marked in the corners like most as only ever used 1/2 a dozen times. PM me if you want.....

Buy the accessory socket connection from a BMW dealer for about 8 or 9 quid, the solder this to the end of the Zumo lead.

Do a search on the site - I followed the instructions in the thread and it works perfectly...

I have a Zumo on my GSA. BMW fitted the bracket and power lead for £40. Works great and the Zumo knows when the ignition is off or on.......

Yes. But check with RAM and/or Migsel about comaptability.

Biker's balls are 1" :D so B size and is used on Migsel and same ball size bits are inside the Zumo box. The arm supplied is short (RAM-B-201-A) usually the preferred option to reduce/limit any vibration.
