Fast dash on our new low R1200GSA
Last minute job, out through the UK
First day:
Galway - Rosslare - Fishguard - Folkstone - Calais.
4:30 am start. All wet and uneventful.
I did for the first time feel the TC take over and correct a very nasty loss of 2 wheel traction.
An feature worth having on a motorcycle.

The M25 is seriously clogged. Loads of filtering, its interesting how some flash car drivers don't like to see a motorcycle making progress and try to deprive you of some tarmac, the plonker actually blew the horn!!
Its been a long time since I have given another road user the 2 finger salute.

Day 2:
Calais - Garmisch.
Calais hair dryers are good for 5 hours continuous use.

Dry except for a flash flood in South Germany, it only lasted half an hour.
The Autobahn was mixture of fun and filtering, no problem the drivers are considerate and leave plenty of room.
For the record a 2016 GSA is pretty much flat out 2 up with luggage at 135 but it will maintain this pace as long as there is clear road available.
I think my 2014 was faster maybe, not much in it. The 2016 is quiet in the intake \ exhaust department but noisy mechanically.
The slightest suggestion of a weave corrected by lowering the screen and tucking in a bit. Ankalees probably not the best for this pace.

We booked a ski chalet no problem a couple of days before leaving €300 for 4 days in Grainau.
There was some heavy overnight rain, pity the campers.
We made good progress on the way down so left some time for perfect B roads.
Lovely country and very friendly people, everyone I talked to spoke English.

The event its self is superbly organised, well done BMW.
Our own Mattie was a star on his F800R and the new 310cc single.

There is always a Que when BMW are dishing out free bikes, I probably could have gotten a 6 but was happy with the 650GT
Plenty quick for a 100k spin. Our tour guide wasn't hanging around.

Off road school was great, our guide was a wee girl and she was good.
Its nice to see a lot of women bikers at Garmisch.

There as a massive Saturday afternoon ride out must have been 2km long, polizei escorted with all the junctions and roundabouts closed by the polizei.

Lovely day Monday:
Satnav set to use B roads, perfect weather.
We took in Friedrichshafen working our way along lake Bodensee.

Stayed that night in a biker hoff near the French border, good parking for the GSA the menu was not to our liking, meat or pork.
We are not big meat eaters.

Friedrichshaften is lovely, give the Zeppelin museum a miss (no Zeppelins). The best bit was the Maybach, I want that car.

The Dornier museum is very good and recommended for a meal stop. You can sit overlooking the runway drinking a latte.

There is a big custom scene in Europe, the 9T fits this perfectly, The 9T scrambler has got to be the choice for a trail 1200 with that lovely TC air cooled engine and low seat height.

The Saturday bierkeller is legendary and you have to fully commit and dance on the table to be in the swim.
The marquee was crammed and everyone was pi--ed but no aggro everyone super friendly.

Tuesday was a blast to Cherbourg, anothe 1100km day with a few hours in Paris. I love playing in Paris on a motorcycle.
Nortre dame, Eifel tower and off again.

The ferry dropped us in Rosslare at noon time, lovely weather so a B route to Galway was sublime.
The Varios were expanded for the first time loaded with wine, Tip: buy the 5L boxes.
Superb lunch Shannonbridge.
