Just bought myself a pair of Sidi Adventure boots, and I'm finding up shifts from 1st to 2nd and up to 3rd quite difficult.

In my old smaller boots I didn't have any problems, but the extra protection and larger sole of the MX style boot is making it hard to get my foot under the lever for those lower gears. Downshifts are fine.

Can the lever be adjusted? Or should I look at lower foot pegs?

Cheers

Yes you can adjust the lever, however, if your boots are quite bulky then I'd consider lowering the footpegs and getting the correct adjuster which if i recall is either longer or shorter than the std option:D

Just behind but attached to the gear lever is a little adjuster with a ball joint on each end. If you loosen the two small locknuts then you can turn the adjuster which lowers or highers ther lever to suit.

wot he said...just have a look and you'll see whats going on.

For off road style boots I'd recommend the touratech gear lever. I have one and it is adjustable for length as well as height.

Just ride with it a while and you will find out you adjust and it is no longer a problem. I use the side of the boot and it works just fine with my size huge as large as they come boots.

I got one of those for exactly the same reasons as the problems in the OP.

Expensive, but totally fixed any issues with my size 14 MX boots and gearchanging :)

The existing gear lever gave me enough adjustment for size 45 Astars MX boots. And I replaced pegs with Honda Pan ST1300 pegs which gains at least 2cm legroom.
