Hi all still rattling round on my 1100
First fault bear with me
When I’m in first it shows first
When I’m in second it shows zero
When I’m in third it shows first
When I’m in fourth it shows fourth
When I’m in fifth it shows fifth
But
If I’m in the gears that are showing the wrong gear
If I ecellarate it displays the correct gear
If I shut off it displays the wrong gear
Cheers all

I suggest the wiring in the sensor / rotary switch thing at the back of the g/box.
My 1150, the plastic gave way, broke and all went a bit squiffy.
IIRC there are two on the 1100, one does thr neutral indication, the other the gear indication.
Not much help i suppose, but i would look there first.

Can i add, the gear indicator unit on the 1100 is an absolute pain the arse to get to and change.
And fingers crossed the stupid mounting bolts don’t snap off….,, the 1150 gear indicator unit is held in place with a wire clip accessible from underneath ..

Maybe time to do a full paralever service then. Check and lube the g/box output splines, all four pivot bearings etc.

Is there a how to do posted somewhere?
I’d quite like to have a go
Bikes got under my skin a bit

Try Chris Harris from the USA

I tried replacing the gear indicator unit with a new one , couldn’t get it to work

I took the swing arm out (after removing the FD cos it's sodding heavy) and was very careful undoing the small bolts holding in the switch. It's pretty straightforward if you go easy, if a little time consuming.

You should do both the neutral light switch and the gear indicator while you are in there and as mentioned above make sure you have the correct moly paste for the splines. Heat the pivots on the swing arm before undoing them to soften the Loctite. Pay attention also to the UJ positions relative to each other. Good luck!

Harris F F S typical Yank 10 times more stuff taken off than needed and the fucking drama of it all instead of just getting the job done!

Anyway

Is it correct about phasing the shaft or is it designed so it fits the correct way ?

There's an Eastern European knocking about on the tube who does some what to do vids; proper in the field work when he can keep the fuckin chickens out of the way;

Yes there is a way to set them up!

Jeez its been a minute @Steptoe did a write up on this a few years back as I recall But if I recall correctly only some 1150s had a master spline and then it seems to have been dumped

Same as that run of wonderful plastic coated spline idea that fucked up and seized splines from sliding I think I still have on on my "fucked up" "play with later" shelf Appeared and was used for a couple of years an disappeared again quietly !
