Hello Everyone

The Gear indicator on the RID has started playing up, It will show 3 in neutral sometimes and then nothing at all in the higher gears
anyone got any ideas (dicky switch or duff RID?).

Cheers Graham.

RE gear indicator

Hi
don't know if this will help but a mate had same problem on his 1150 gs.

cured it by cleaning contacts and squirting wd40 on the gear indicator switch which is at the back on the gearbox. (between gearbox and swingarm)

we couldn't remove it entirely without removing swingarm (way too much hassle) but managed to do enough to get it working correctly again.

hope this helps

And the model is ??????

the switches are different between the 1100 and 1150

my gear indicator started playing funny buggers after it got wet, few days later it was fine again.

keep your fingers crossed.

On the 1150 you can get the switck off without removing the swing arm, just drop the cat down and goi in from underneath. The pain is getting the spring clip off and on again after.

Mine played up after I Washed the bike (must have gone into shock):D , I removed the switch but it was dry under it, replaced it and gave it a coating of WD40. I was going to check the connector on the following weekend but it must have dried out as over the week, as it began to return to normal and by Saturday was working again.

I had mine done under warrantee, I seem to remember SPC saying that the replacement one was packed with silicone grease to prevent it happening again.

On my R1100GS I have a similar problem, the display on RID indicates it's in either neutral or first, and with each change up the box it reads: 0,1,0,1! Binary error message?

Sorry Steptoe

As Finglonga dicovered it is a 1100 of 94 vintage. anyway it seems to point towards the switch and not the RID so I shall have a look at it and give a clean.

Cheers Graham:)
